Built on the tools. Built on trust.
A local Auckland specialist who does the job properly — and answers the phone. Not a large national company. A builder who's the same person quoting your job and standing on your roof.
Run by Wayne McDade — a builder who took skylights seriously.
Benchmark Skylights is led by Wayne McDade — a Licensed Building Practitioner, Velux-certified installer, and Auckland builder with over 25 years on the tools.
We're based in Grey Lynn and work with homeowners, builders and architects right across Auckland. We're not a large national company. We're a local specialist who does the job properly and answers the phone.
"I grew up in construction. My old man was a builder, and I started carrying gear for him during school holidays in the '90s. That's where the standards were set — measure twice, no shortcuts, look after people."
When I started Benchmark Building, skylights quickly became a core part of the work. What I realised — and what I think sets us apart — is that being a qualified builder and a Velux-certified installer gives clients something most skylight companies can't offer: someone who understands the whole building. The roof structure, the weathertightness, the framing, the way it all connects. Not just the fitting.
What started as an opportunity with Velux became the focus of its own operation. Benchmark Skylights is a one-stop shop — where the person quoting your job is the same person on your roof.
